Organizers for this year’s Jackson County Fair has announced the dates to be Sept. 3-6, with the theme “Keep Calm and Fair On at the Jackson County Fair”.


Events will include livestock and non-livestock exhibits, commerical exhibits, Junior & Senior Youth Farm Hand Olympics, children’s tours and games, Border Collie demonstrations, martial arts demonstrations, turtle races, a turkey calling contest, Weiner Dog Races, tractor driving contest and a tractor pedal pull contest, and stick horse rance and decorating contest.


Other events include a robotics demonstration by SWTC and Jackson County 4-H, an OSU insect display, an Altus Air Force Base security dog demonstration, and the Beautiful Baby contest.


The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department will also have a display during the children’s tour, there will be an appearance by Air Evack, a fire truck and ambulance will be on display, and there will be a petting zoo for the kids.


Be sure and also stop by and visit the Oklahoma Lion’s Club Mobile Health Screening Unit, Saturday Only, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visit the Oklahoma Work Force Job Fair on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and be on the lookout for special appearances by Miss Altus and Miss Altus Outstanding Teen.
