It’s Christmas in July! Or at least you should start planning for the 34th Annual Altus Christmas Parade, NOW! According to Christmas Parade Chairman Debbie Davis, Altus will be holding their first night time parade.
“Our community has been asking us to do this for several years and the Parade Action Committee has agreed it is time to provide something new for our spectators, families and organizers,” said Davis.
This year’s parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 13. The parade will step off from the Bunker Hill United parking lot at 6:30 p.m. and disperse on Commerce Street. With this being a night time parade, the judges will be located on Main Street and the winners will be announced at the courthouse square after the parade is over.
The theme for this year’s Parade is: “Christmas Night of Lights”.
“We want to light up Main Street with thousands of dazzling, twinkling lights! Gather your lights and let your imagination run wild when you design your float,” said Davis.
All clubs, organization, schools, musical groups, churches, businesses and individuals are invited to participate in the parade. Deadline for entries will be Monday, Dec. 8. Rules, regulations and entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce office. If you have any questions, please call their office at (580) 482-0210.
A Facebook page for the Christmas Parade will be opened in the next few days so that you will be able to follow all of the excitement. “Please be patient with us as we go through all of the changes,” Davis added.
