The Jackson County Commissioners approved an inter-local agreement with the town of Blair for street improvements and an inter-local agreement with the town of Elmer for street debris removal, and considered other items on the agenda, during their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 4.
District 1 Commissioner Marty Clinton explained that the agreement is a measure required by their auditors that allow Jackson County to perform necessary work in those towns as long as they have agreed to reimburse the county for material costs.
“In Blair we will do some seal coasting on some streets and will be reimbursed while we provide the labor and equipment,” Clinton said.” It’s just a formality for the auditor.”
During the meeting Commissioners approved reports from the Treasurer’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, Jackson County Health Department, Assessor’s Office, Court Clerk, and the County Clerk’s Office.
During Officer Reports, Jackson County Sheriff Roger Levick told Commissioners that Comanche County Jail administrators contacted LeVick seeking available beds to handle prisoner overflow. LeVick said they will draw up a contract to be approved by Commissioners for housing Comanche County Jail overflow inmates at $30 per day.
Clinton gave a reminder that construction work continues on Navajo School Road and will be reduced to one lane and one direction.
During the meeting, Commissioners approved a purchased services sub-contract agreement with Lead Agency and Victoria Cleveland, for Tobacco Prevention and Physical Activity and Nutrition Programs beginning Aug. 5, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
Commissioners also approved supplemental appropriations for the County Assessors Office, Sheriff’s Department, Expo Center, Emergency Management, Drug Court, and Highway.
After approval of claims, the meeting adjourned.
