An election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26 for runoffs that feature two statewide races for Democratic voters and runoffs for both parties in the 5th District U.S. House.
Democrats will choose nominees in a U.S Senate contest and for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Several state House and Senate contests are also be on the ballot.
On the ballot Tuesday will be State Officers for Superintendent of Public Instruction, John Cox and Freda Deskin. Congressional Officers for U.S. Senator unexpired term, Connie Johnson and Jim Rogers.
According to officials from the Jackson County Election Board, turn out for early voting on Thursday and Friday was low. As a matter of fact, for the two-day period, there were only 23 votes cast. Early voting was also being held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Election Office.
When voters go to the polls on Tuesday, it will be at their regular polling locations.
