Jackson County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 25, where they approved a Canon Copier as surplus from the Assessor’s office, among other items on the consent agenda. The copier, a Canon IR2230, was replaced by a more efficient model, County Assessor Lisa Roberson informed.
Also during the meeting, Jackson County Sheriff Roger LeVick thanked all of the county workers and firefighters, and City of Altus and Altus Air Force Base firefighters, for for their quick response to the Warren Fire, and from keeping it from burning down a large part of the country wild-land.
The fire was said to have jumped across the North Fork of the Red River several times into Kiowa County.
In a separate interview on Monday, Altus Police Chief Jerry Abbott reported that the fire ended up in Kiowa county before it was completely extinguished. On Saturday, firefighters from both Jackson County and Kiowa county worked the blaze until about 7:30 p.m.
Also, Commissioners approved a bid for $380.35 for Commissioners Sale by Jackson County Treasurer Renee Howard, on property acquired at resale, located at 612 W. Liveoak.
Commissioners approve minutes from the last meeting. There were no reports or purchase orders. After approval of claims, the meeting adjourned.
