An Alton woman was arrested on Dec. 31 for misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting a peace officer and four other traffic citations, Madison County Sheriff Robert J. Hertz said in a press release.

The woman is identified as Tamara R. Thrash, 33, of the 4800 block of Sandy Court.

On Tuesday at approximately 10:37 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1429 3rd St., Cottage Hills, in reference to a hit-and-run traffic crash. A deputy met with owner of a vehicle that reported a Gold Dodge Caravan had struck their parked vehicle and the driver fled from the scene. The Gold Dodge Caravan was later located at a nearby residence and deputies were able to make contact with Tamara Thrash, the driver of the Gold Dodge Caravan. Thrash appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and she failed field sobriety tests. Thrash was informed that she was under arrest and she pulled away from the deputy. Thrash began to fight with the deputy and she was placed into handcuffs after a brief struggle.

Thrash was transported to the Madison County Jail and served with a misdemeanor complaint for resisting a police officer. Thrash also was issued traffic citations for driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle and operating a vehicle when registration suspended for no insurance.

Thrash was held on a $200 cash bond.
