A Kane woman was charged Monday in Madison County Circuit Court with a felony charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Heroin) and misdemeanor charges of retail theft and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Madison County Sheriff Robert J. Hertz.
According to a release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the woman charged was identified as Natasha N. Harris, 22, of Hinton Street in Kane.
According to the release, on Sunday, Feb. 23, at approximately 4:03 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wal-Mart, 6660 Godfrey Road, Godfrey in reference to a retail theft complaint. A Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Officer told the responding deputy Natasha Harris was detained for retail theft after an employee witnessed her attempting to steal a container of hair styling gel.
The responding deputy arrested Harris for retail theft and subsequently searched her purse. The search resulted in the seizure of nine capsules containing heroin and a cannabis pipe. Harris was transported to the Madison County Jail where she was held pending a formal review of facts by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Bond was set at $15,000.
