Pioneers win, Lady Pioneers lose

The Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers defeated a highly touted Redlands team on Tuesday night 87-73 at El Ren0.


The Lady Pioneers lost their contest with Redlands 87-71.


Redlands went into the game with an 11-1 record and recently received votes in the latest NJCAA national poll.


The Pioneers were steady out the gate with Stirling Thomas scoring 15 first half points to


give Western a 46-42 lead at the break. The Pioneers led the whole second half till the last three minutes when the cougars were able to tie the game. The Pioneers went on a run fueled by several steals by Jahmal Lane and earned a double digit victory.


Stirling Thomas led the Pioneers with 19 points followed by 15 from Jahmal Lane.


Western ups its record to 11-2 and 2-1 in Region 2 play.
