LAWTON – The Altus 7th grade Lady Dawgs broke out to a quick 6-0 lead against the Lawton Mac Lady Scots but then had to fight back before pulling away in the fourth quarter to defeat the Lady Scots 30-21.


Altus’ Marguerite McGill and Jordan Benway combined to score the first six points of the game but Mac came right back to tie the score before Carly Stork hit a shot to put Altus up 8-6 heading into the second frame. Mac outscored Altus 6-3 in the second frame to take a 12-11 halftime lead.


Mac stretched their lead to 20-17 at the end of the third quarter but then Altus woke up.


Altus went on a scoring streak in the fourth quarter outscoring Mac 13-1 to take the victory 30-21.


McGill led Altus with 11 points while Haley Leyja added 6 points.


Altus, now 6-7 on the season and on a three game winning streak, will play their final home game of the season on Thursday when they host Lawton Central.
