The Altus High School Lady Bulldogs opened up their season on Thursday with a good showing at the Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness Clancy Invitational Track Meet. Altus placed 4th out of the 14 teams. Lawton Ike won the team title followed by Bishop McGuinness, Yukon and Altus.
“We did a pretty god job today considering the wind,” said Head Coach Robert Garrison. “We scored 75 points and didn’t run four of the events, so that tells me we did pretty good.”
Highlighting the Lady Bulldog finishes were Zetta McCaskill who finished 2nd in the 400 and Ashley Hughes who took second in the 300 Hurdles.
Getting 3rd place finishes were Hughes in the 100 Hurdles, Brianna Barker in the 800 run, Julia Pack in the 3200 relay team of Pack, Barker, Hernke and Lexi Herron.
“Overall I’m really pleased with how we did,” said Garrison. “We put up some good times and I think we surprised ourselves with how we did in some events.”
Altus’ next action will be March 28 when they travel to Vernon and follow that up the next day when the travel to Duncan.
