The Navajo Indians won both games in Fletcher Monday, Aug. 11.
Senior Braden Box went the distance on the mound for the complete game win 3-1. Box struckout 9 and yielded only 2 singles. Max Smith had a 2 for 3 effort in the leadoff spot with 2 rbi’s and adding a run scored in the 5th.
In the 2nd game, Sophomore Curtis Goodson earned his first high school victory on the mound. Dakota McGrory was 2 for 3 and scored twice. Jacob Hall also scored and added a RBI double in his 2 for 3 effort. Stephen Gilstad also singled and scored.
Although content with the wins, head coach Weston Winters described the play as looking like the first game. “Too many hitters coming back to the dugout after striking out.” said Winters. “We need to find more ways on base. Fortunately for us, our pitchers held Fletcher down.”
