The AHS Bulldogs took their practice session to the field at Hightower Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Head Coach Jeremy Reed was pleased only with the opportunity to practice in front of a crowd and the Bulldogs are grateful to all that attended.
Reed mentioned that Monday’s practice was a much needed improvement over Saturday’s effort. “Today (Monday) was a great day. We got much better today. The kids locked in and accepted the corrections we (coaches) wanted implemented from Saturday,” said Reed.
Anyone observing the last practice without pads on Thursday saw a sharp Bulldog offensive effort. The running backs were quick to the hole, the lineman fired off of the ball and the quarterbacks were sharp and decisive. On Saturday evening, however, that same Bulldog offense was not as tight.
Reed added, “There always seems to be something about putting pads on that make basic fundamental techniques that we were doing well, suddenly leave us. This is a process. This offense is about doing all the little things right. It’s about attention to detail which we emphasize daily. We will get better every week since we will work the same skills everyday. I was pleased to see a better effort at practice today.”
Remember Bulldog fans, Saturday, Aug. 23 is Meet the Bulldogs. Several groups of Fall sports will be recognized. Let’s pack the home side of Hightower memorial at 8 p.m.
