It’s the “Battle of the Badges” and you’ll be determining which badge wins on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Will it be the Jackson County EMS, Altus Fire Department, Altus Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, or Jackson County Memorial Hospital that wins the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive?
This drive is a triple threat. Not only do donors get to sponsor their favorite organization, but it’s also the Oklahoma Blood Institute’s (OBI) Bedlam blood drive. Donors will choose between a free OU or OSU T-shirt provided by OBI. Like the promo ads say, “But that’s not all.” This blood drive also supports Janette Springs of Eldorado.
Springs is the wife of Tim Springs and mother to Shelley Hurst and Tracy Springs. Janette Springs is awaiting a liver transplant and receives blood or blood products every ten days. Donors can contribute to the Springs’ account and still support their favorite badge team. That may mean a split vote in the Springs family. Daughter Shelley is an EMT for Jackson County EMS and a volunteer for the Eldorado EMS, and son Tracy is a volunteer fire fighter in Eldorado.
The blood drive will be Tuesday, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Altus Community Center. To help save time, donors can make appointments by calling any of the following numbers: Altus Fire Dept. at 481-2230, Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Office at 482-0408, Jackson Co. EMS at 477-4112, or Altus Police Dept. at 482-4121. Picture IDs are required. Donors should eat a good meal before they donate. Light snacks will be provided after donation.
Results of the winner of the Battle of the Badges will be available shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 6.
