Nothing reflects more of a “Focus on the Future” right now in Altus than the new construction and renovation of Altus High School. The photo above shows the new east wing across the back of the school, as well as the new roof that was put on the entire facility. When students come back in the Fall, the front part of the building will be shut off for renovations, and students will use the newly renovated north wing, as well as the classrooms in the newly built east wing. The finishing touches are under way on Phase One, and a final walk through for acceptance of the project, the north and east wings, is set for May 22. Following that, school officials will be in a mad dash to move teachers out of the parts of the building that have not yet been remodeled, so that Phase Two of the renovations can begin by the second week of June. Look in today’s “Health, Education & Religion” section to read more about all the changes and additions at Altus High School, as well as to see inside photos of the work in progress.
