Altus Christian Academy (ACA) is on target with the construction and renovation project at their soon-to-be permanent facility at 1220 N. Grady. Demolition began the first week in April after two years of fundraising with plans to move into their new facility in time for the 2012-2013 school year. The new building will offer three times the space as their currently leased location that will allow for their continued growth in enrollment and grade levels.
To help repurpose this building that has basically sat vacant for several years, ACA was recently awarded a $150,000 grant from The Priddy Foundation of Wichita Falls, Texas. The award follows a comprehensive application, review process by their board of trustees and staff, and site visit to the school. The grant will be used to complete the interior work while the remaining funds needed to complete the exterior renovation and beautification will be raised through ongoing capital campaign efforts. Additional financial needs will be met through cost-saving measures such as installing the new school playground equipment using volunteers. The installation will be supervised by installers from the playground company and will take place over a four-day period in July.
ACA builds excellence in education through biblical principles. It offers classes for 3-year-olds through sixth grade. For questions about enrollment, to make donations to the capital campaign, or to offer your time to volunteer workdays, contact the school at (580) 477-2511 or stop by the current facility at 1700 N. Main Street, in Altus.
