Not many thought the Altus High-Oklahoma City Capitol Hill game would be a competitive one, and they were right. The Bulldogs scored 11 times in the game and rolled past the Redskins 75-7 here on Friday night.
The Bulldogs scored early, often and quickly. Senior running back Diquon Woodhouse scored four times, all in the first half. He had touchdown runs of 83, 51 and 19 yards. He also caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Brantley Ford which covered 37 yards. Ford also had a three yard TD aerial to tight end Nico Maldonado. Ford added a 33 yard run for a score. Freshman running back Taven Birdow scored twice on runs of 45 and 53 yards. Lineman turned running back Cedrick Jamison got into the scoring act with a a 59 yard TD jaunt. Josue Martinez caught a 51 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Tanner Cross.
The defensive also contributed when linebacker Keilan Torres scooped a lateral and ran it in 24 yard for a touchdown.
Capitol Hill avoided a shutout on a daring fake punt from its own 11 yard line. Quarterback Seth Reid found wide out Dennis Do far down field and the play resulted in a 89 yard TD aerial in the second quarter.
Woodhouse ran for 204 yards on seven carries and that gave him more than 1,000 yards on the season.
Obviously it was a big night for the Bulldogs who had 10 plays of 20 yards or more. Altus average 16 yards per snap.
Fifteen seniors appeared in the blue and white uniform for the last time. They included Damien Ray, Michael Perez, Brantley Ford, Nico Maldonado, Chris Rogers, Diquon Woodhouse, Patrick Carnes, Demauri Randall, Keilan Torres, Antoine Lewis, Cedrick Jamison, Dalton Chappel, Bobby Martinez, and JonMark Moon.
AHS Head Coach Stone talked to those seniors after the game. “It was an odd feeling, it feels like you are walking around in a haze after the game,” Stone said. “I told them (prior to the game) if things go according to plan, you are probably going to win and you are probably win comfortably. Most of the 15 probably won’t put on pads again. I told them to go out there and savor those moments. Try to make some memories.”
