The Local Chapter #435 of the AARP has announced that they will be sponsoring, for the third year, the Christmas Cards for Seniors and Military Veterans.

The cards will go to local Altus retirement homes and the ones for veterans will be taken to the facility at Clinton. These cards are always well received and let the people who get them know that someone cares during the Christmas Season.

The boxes for collection of the cards are in the lobby of KWHW/KQ106 and are labeled for each group of cards. For individuals and school groups and classes who participate in this community project AARP requests that you address the cards individually to a senior or a veteran. Please do not throw groups of cards in that have not been addressed properly.

The local AARP chapter does not accept boxes of Christmas cards, because they do not have available people who can address them. They will be accepting the cards through Wednesday, Dec. 19.
