Effie Lee “Janie” Clark was born to Robert J. and Beulah Mae (Taylor) Taylor in Hiwassee, Ga. on Oct. 24, 1925, and departed this life in Altus on Oct. 29, 2012.
Janie grew up in and attended school in Hiwassee. Janie and a friend went on vacation to Jacksonville, Fla. where she met Wayne Clark while he was a pilot in the Navy. They were married two weeks later on Aug. 14, 1945. She was a great companion for Wayne while she helped with the farming, irrigation and milking cows. She enjoyed shopping and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She took great pleasure in cooking for her family to show her love regardless of the occasion and was always there with a dish when someone was in need. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Willow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Howard J. Taylor.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Clark of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike Clark and Kathy of Mangum; a daughter, Tammie Clark of Willow; four grandchildren, Craig Clark and wife Tina of Willow, Heather and Justin Touchstone of Elk City, Micky Clark and fiancé Deedra Kelley of Willow, and Brooke and husband Mark Terry of Willow; five great-grandchildren, Paelyn and Kagan Clark, Trace and Keeley Touchstone and Hartley Jan Terry; a step sister, Eunice and Bill Youngblood of Moline, Ill.; and many other relatives and friends.
