Olinda Coakley, 92, of Hobart, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, in the Elkview General Hospital in Hobart. She was born July 16, 1915, in Hobart to John and Barbara (Laubach) Lipps. She graduated from Hobart High School in 1936 and married Garley Coakley on Oct. 24, 1936. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1970. She lived all her life in Hobart. Olinda was a member of the First Baptis Church and worked in the nursery and 3-year-old departments for 54 years. She was also active in a home extension club and was presented her 50 year pin in Stillwater. She won many ribbons at the county fairs. Olinda attended football games, 4-H events and other activities in which her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated. She was an avid Bearcat supporter. Her garden was her passion.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Coakley and wife Toni of Altus; one sister, Bertha Read of Carmel Valley, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Karen Beatty and husband Virgil of Hobart; eight grandchildren, Lynda Coakley, Tammy McCollom, Renee' Noce, Jon David Coakley, Jeff Coakley, Jim Coakley, Meagan Coakley and Kristi Coakley; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Garley; son John in 1999; four brothers, Aaron Lipps, Alex Lipps, Wilmer Lipps and Walter Lipps; and one great-grandson, Jackson Coakley.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Hobart Rose Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Andy Jobe.

Burial followed in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Hobart.
