A Cotton Pick'n Time in Frederick is promised by the Frederick Chamber of Commerce who is gearing up for it’s third annual Cotton Festival on Saturday, Nov. 7.

This year there will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in their chili cook off. There is a $25 entry fee, and chili may be of any type and cooked on site or at home. The Chamber will provide crackers, sample cups, bowls, spoons, and napkins, and ticket containers (for voting). Chili Teams are asked to be ready to start serving at 11 a.m., and stay until at least 1 p.m., or later. Any groups, organizations, churches or individuals are welcome to enter. For more information, or for an application, call the chamber office at 580-335-2126.

Frederick is also planning a City Wide Garage Sale that day with the usual fee for a garage sale be ing waived, so there will be garage and yard sales going on all over town.

The day’s activities will include Pioneer games for children, cotton crafts, cotton spinning and weaving, cotton displays, cake walk, bingo, refreshments, Farm Equipment, Tractor and educational displays, live entertainment, and tours of the Red River Cotton Gin and the Oklahoma Cotton Cooperative Association Cotton Texoma Warehouse.

The tours are free, and transportation will be provided. This is in conjunction with the Pioneer Townsite Museum’s ”Seed to Sew” program. The ”Seed to Sew” Program covers cotton picking, ginning, carding, spinning, weaving and sewing. It also features exhibitions of cotton farming from the early 20th century, including a mini-cotton gin. Come pick your own cotton from the field growing in the Townsite.

The Historical Ramona Theater Grand Re-Opening: The "Night on Broadway” show will begin at 7 p.m. that night. Broadway show tunes will be performed by area singers, pianists, a string ensemble and piano duet from Lawton. The evening is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and the public is invited to make “Night on Broadway” as dressy or as casual as they wish. If you have that special dress or outfit you never get to wear, bring it out that night to show it off! New stage lights, sound equipment, structural repairs as well as cosmetic enhancements have recently been made to the Ramona Theatre who celebrates her 80th birthday on Oct. 29. Admission to show and cookie and punch reception afterward will be $7.50 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets for this 'not-to-be-missed' show will be available at Frederick’s Banc First, K.C's or by calling 580- 335-5689.
