County Fair Fun starts today

The Jackson County Fair began today with a tractor driving contest at 4 p.m., followed by the entry of open class, 4-H and FFA non-livestock exhibits from 2 to 6 p.m. The fair opens to the public on Thursday at 4 p.m. to view exhibits. Poultry, rabbits and guinea pigs can be entered from 3-5 p.m. with judging at 5:30 p.m. The 4-H and Open Junior Youth Farm Hand Olympics will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Senior division at 7:30 p.m. Friday is Children’s Day at the Fair with tours and games from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Kevin Law’s Border Collie Demonstration at 9 a.m., a karate demonstration at 10 a.m., turtle races at 5:30 p.m., Weiner Dog Races at 7:30 p.m. Fun on Saturday includes a Tractor Pedal Pull Contest at 9:30 a.m., the Beautiful ?Baby Contest at 9:30 a.m., Pet Show at noon, a Border Collie demonstration at 2 p.m., a martial arts demonstration at 2:30 p.m., and a turtle race at 4:30 p.m. (complete fair schedule of events on page 9A of today’s edition.)
