According to reports from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Eldorado Reserve Officer Thomas M. Flannery, 47, has been charged with making a false report of a crime.
On July 14, at about 11:27 p.m., Flannery reported to Eldorado Police Chief, Michael Tinney, that someone had fired a shot at his house.
Chief Tinney reported the incident to the JCSO dispatcher and then went to Flannery’s residence.
Flannery told Tinney that he was outside his residence, and someone shot at him, missing him by “an arm’s length.” He went on to say that although he was not hit, there was a bullet hole in his window, probably made by a .22 caliber gun.
On July 16, Chief Tinney asked Jackson County Sheriff Roger LeVick to assist with the investigation in trying to find out exactly who had shot at Flannery.
After thorough examination of the residence and the bullet holes in the curtain and in the window, LeVick concluded that the gunshot actually came from the inside of Flannery’s house, not the outside.
Flannery made an initial appearance before Judge Brad Leverett on July 22, where he entered a plea of not guilty.
He is scheduled to reappear on Aug. 31 at 9:45 a.m.
If convicted, Flannery faces a fine of up to $500 and/or a sentence of up to 90 days in the county jail.
