The City of Altus Reservoir came in handy as an alternate water source when the water from Tom Steed Reservoir was temporarily shutoff this last weekend. Wildfires threatened the electrical supply for Tom Steed, northwest of Snyder. Water rationing was urged in Altus as some water was pulled from the reservoir and treated for use. Citizens are currently asked to conserve water. In the photo, ibis, sandpipers and other shore birds are cleaning up the mudflats at the City Reservoir as we await much-needed rain.
