Nelda Jo Mitchell was born June 14, 1948, in Duncan to John Henry and Ruby Lee (Campbell) Mitchell. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1966. She entered the United States Army in 1975 and was honorably discharged as a TSgt in 1984. She worked in MWR Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base in 1986 and later at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. She moved to California in 1992 and worked as a secretary and receptionist. She then worked as head cashier at the Frontier Casino in Las Vegas and the Edgewater Casino in Laughlin, Nev. She went to work for the U. S. Postal Service in 1996 in Kingman, Ariz. She moved back to Headrick in 2004 and worked for the Postal Service in Lawton until she was medically retired in 2008. Since then, her dream was to establish a convenience store in Headrick with her niece. She was a member of the Church of Christ; enjoyed horseback riding and animals of all types. She couldn’t resist helping any stray animal with food and medical attention.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by one daughter, Tonya Renee Stewart, and a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Stewart, both of Asheville, N.C.; one brother, John Henry Mitchell, Jr. of Headrick; two sisters, Sandra Westfall and husband I.D. of Altus, and Laura Fort and husband Danny of Headrick.

Janie Geneva Davis, 77, of Blair, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Joe Waugh officiating. A private family burial will follow services at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Janie Geneva Hastings was born Jan. 21, 1935, to James Albert and Bessie (Jordan) Hastings in Tomato, Ark. She attended school in Tomato, Ark. She married Virgil L. Davis June 24, 1950 in Oceola, Ark. To this union nine children were born. She was a loving wife and tireless mother who nurtured her children and kept the home. Geneva moved with her family from Blytheville, Ark. to Altus, Oklahoma in 1969 and then to Blair in 1974, where she lived ever since. She was a seamstress for many years until her medical retirement in 1992. She had also taken business classes at WOSC for one year. She was a member of the Blair Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed family get-togethers and watching her grandchildren grow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four half brothers, Bill, Webster, Leon and Cleatus Jordan; a half sister, Lillian Coleman; a grandson, James David Davis; and a great-grandson, Lane Monday.
She is survived by four daughters, Vicki and Ronnie Shatswell of Altus, Marti and Mark Gilley of Elgin, Janie and Frank Osborne of Sapulpa, Stacey L. Davis of Blair; five sons, Steven and Alice Davis of McCloud, David and Debbie Davis of Altus, Larry and Joni Davis of Altus, Gary and Darlin’ Davis of Blair, and Brian and Terri Davis of Altus; a brother, Floyd and Rose Ann Hastings of Chandler; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life in the memory of Lane Monday.
