Even though it may be a bit nippy for Trick-or-Treaters, with Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, kids are exceptionally excited and anxious for all the fun the holiday promises.

Kids should know that official Trick-or-Treating starts at dusk and runs until about 8 to 9 p.m. Motorists are urged to take extra caution with kids running here and there through neighborhoods, and kids should take caution when crossing streets.

There are also lots of other events being sponsored by businesses and churches this weekend. Here is a list of several of the events:

Southside Baptist Church will have a Halloween alternative with a Fall Fest on Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., 1100 Asa Lee. Emmanuel Baptist Church will host their annual Children’s Fall Fest Saturday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with a “Trunk or Treat” festival in the church parking lot. This year’s festival will feature 15-20 vehicles parked together with their trunks decorated with Christian-based themes. Children will be able to walk to each vehicle and receive candy and special treats. This is a fun, safe time for families to have an alternative to the observance of Halloween.
