Noma married Emory Lee Hayes on Dec. 18, 1943, in Hollis. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2011. She was employed as a Registered Nurse. Noma taught Sunday School for many years at First Baptist Church in Hollis and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. She was also a member of the 1951 Sirosis Club and was a very good cook, especially known for her great homemade ice cream. She loved watching her grandsons’ football and baseball games and never missed a practice.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Emory Lee Hayes; and sister, Bernice Hundley.
Noma is survived by her daughter, Pam Barnett and husband James F. Barnett of Newcastle; four grandchildren, Jesse Birdsong, David Birdsong, Madison Barnett, and Mackenzie Barnett; many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday at First Baptist Church in Newcastle with the Rev. Lance Nuthman officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at 3:30 p.m., at Dryden Cemetery near Hollis. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard.
