The Hollis Municipal Pool was shut down because it became unsafe for swimmers and numerous components need to be replaced. Several fund raisers have been used to raise about $43,000 over the summer. The estimate to repair the pool is $100,000. There are currently containers located at the pool to donate cans and paper goods for recycling. There have been two garage sales and a softball tournament that helped to raise money. Sandy Creek Veterinary Care is doing their part to help raise funds for the pool. All proceeds of these fundraisers go to the Hollis Municipal Pool Project thanks to our local sponsors. These include: Hollis Livestock Commission, Dixion-Kirchoff Inc, Body Work Gym, and Wrights Agri Services, and Broadway Liquor and Beer to Go). It is important to small communities to have recreational options for the local youth.

The next big fundraiser to be held for the Hollis Municipal Pool Project is the Dog-Gone Fun Run. This event will be sponsored by Sandy Creek Veterinary Care. This will be a one-mile fun run or walk with or without your dog. The Dog Gone Fun Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, with a 9 a.m. check in and 10 a.m. race. It will be held in the Hollis swimming pool/ park area. There will be a $20 registration fee to benefit the pool project.

Registration starts Monday, Sept. 3 through Friday, Sept. 14, at Sandy Creek Vet Care office 580-688-9467. For your registration fee, you will receive: an official Dog-Gone Fun Run shirt, an official leash, a bottle of water, and a goodies bag.
