Jackson County Sales Tax receipts up $17K

Jackson County Commissioners met for their regular Monday meeting on July 9, at 10 a.m.

The minutes from last meeting, on Monday, July 2, were approved with minor corrections.

A report from the Court Clerk’s office was approved.

In Officers reports, County Treasurer Renee Howard reported that the County Sales Tax received from the month of May purchases was up to $129,347.54. This is up more than $17,000 dollars from the June receipts of $112,002.32. The Use Tax was down almost $1,060, to $4,587.18 from $5,646.89.

Sheriff Roger LeVick said the Jackson County Jail population is up, with 141 occupants being held after the holiday weekend.

Commissioner Chair remarked that there will be two County employee meetings on Friday, July 27 regarding County health insurance. Two meetings, one morning and one afternoon will be held to adjust to schedules. There will be a Q&A session and these meetings will be held in the big courtroom.

The commissioners approved blanket purchase orders from the District Attorney’s Office.

The approved a service agreement between Trane and Jackson County Courthouse for the heating and cooling needs. This was $2,606 per year, but the approved one-installment payment was $2,527.82.

A contract renewal between Jackson County Commissioners and Faye Jo Haynes for July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 was approved. This contract was for rock, which costs 50 cents per yard.

The commissioners approved designating Rhonda Stephanovich and Tina Hudson as Receiving Officers and Angela Dugan and Emilie Caskey as Requisitioning Officers for the Jackson County Court Clerk’s Office.

They also approved designating Helen Holcombe and Joann Maldonado as Receiving Officers and Phyllis Winters and Gail Allen as Requisitioning Officers for Jackson County Clerk’s Office.

They approved the Commissioner’s Proceedings for the month of June.

There was no new business and the claims were approved.

The meeting adjourned at 10:16 a.m.
