Altus crowned two meet champions. The 400 Relay blazed around the track in 49.79 to take first. Team members were Kendra Gibson, Dashawna Jackson, Itiya Knight and Jazznae Harris. The 800 Relay team of Vetta
McCaskill, Jackson, Knight and Harris also took first with a time of 1:45.15.
“We ran some of the fastest times in the state in those relays today,” said Coach Hawkins, “they did that and still were off on their hand-offs.”
Laurel Warren continued to do well in the Pole Vault, finishing second with a vault of 8’6”. Harris took second in the 400 Dash with a 59.22.
“We really came out today knowing this would be the toughest meet we would have until state,” Coach Hawkins said. “We ran against mostly 6A schools and held our own. Even if we didn’t win an event our girls knocked a lot of time off.”
Next action for the Lady Bulldogs will be Friday when they travel to Norman for the John Jacobs High School Invitational at Oklahoma University.
