After four years of investment, Quiznos of Altus has made the decision to close its doors. According to owners, Mary and Les Lambert, “There were a few reasons that motivated this, most attributable to corporate instability.” The Lamberts said, “In the time we were open in Altus, Quiznos corporate headquarters in Denver, Colo. had four Chief Executive Officers, three Chief Operating Officers and two Chief Financial Officers. Needless to say,” the Lamberts explained, “their individual signatures made for an almost invisible company vision. Other franchise owners using the Quiznos Franchise Association (QZFA) to improve transparency and build a better franchisor-franchisee relationship was to little avail.” Concerned that their customers understand the situation, the Lamberts said, “Our choice does not reflect the local economy, by any means. In spite of our great customers which we truly have appreciated serving, the bottom line is that it was not a viable activity due to the unfruitful relationship with the head office. In addition to high food cost and forced menu changes, mandatory, off-the-top cost made profit almost impossible.” The Lamberts added, “We are not alone in this step. Many other Quiznos in Oklahoma and across the country opted to discontinue operating. Close to home, the Elk City franchise recently closed as well after opening six years ago.” The Lamberts wish to impart their kind regards and to thank their much-appreciated customers for their several years of constant support of a local business.
