Lorena Parrent Lockwood of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away July 25, 2009, at the age of 85. She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Friendship, and was raised in Friendship, attending Friendship High School.

She lived in Enterprise, Ala., for six years, Dallas, Texas for 31 years and Winnsboro, Texas for nine years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnsboro. She was a homemaker and Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William D. Herring and Katie Mae Robertson Herring; sisters, Wilma Ruth Cates, Ometta Faye Wilks, Juanita Mae Dishman, and Iva Jean Laughty; brothers, William Presley Herring and Rodney Raymond Herring; husbands, James Wilford Turner, J.G. Waldon Parrent, and Milton Odell Lockwood.

She is survived by sons, J.G. Parrent Jr. (Sonny) of Houston, Daniel Gale Parrent of McKinney, and Matthew Dave Parrent of Andrews; daughter, Renee’ Dianna (Parrent) Anderson of Winnsboro; brother, Arthur Herring of New Mexico; three sisters, Oletta Akins, Katie James, and Alma Gilreath; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, with the Rev. David Rose officiating. . Interment was to be at 4 p.m. today at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
