The Mobile Vet Center will be at the Workforce Oklahoma office, 1115 N. Spurgeon St. in Altus, on Jan. 31, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. As part of the “I Count” campaign, the goal is to tally the number of homeless, specifically veterans, and send the information to the federal government in order to increase grant money, federal funding, local services, and housing in our area.

“Mobile Vet Centers allow the Veterans Affairs to bring the many services our Vet Centers offer to Vets of all communities, wherever they are needed,” said VA Under Secretary for Health Robert A. Petzel. “The VA is committed to expanding access to VA health care and benefits for Veterans and their families.”

These customized vehicles, are equipped with confidential counseling space and a state of the art communication package, including a satellite dish that connects to communications, audio-visual equipment, six phone lines, a fax line, notebook computers, four encrypted computer lines, and WiFi gear.

The Mobile Vet Center travels to communities to extend VA’s reach to Veterans, Service members, and their families, especially those living in rural or remote communities.
