Motel 6 robbed at gunpoint

Altus Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Motel 6, 2515 East Broadway, early Monday morning, Dec. 24, shortly before 4 a.m.

The suspect is described as a heavy set black male, approximately 6 ft., 3 inches tall, wearing a black ski mask, black leather jacket, a crimson colored shirt, black gloves and white tennis shoes.

According to Police Chief Tim Murphy, the suspect pointed a black semi-automatic hand gun at the victim and demanded money. The suspect then walked around the counter and entered the office areas, and once again approached the victim and demanded the cash drawer be opened.

The suspect then knocked the victim to the ground before taking an undetermined amount of cash. The victim was uninjured as a result of the assault.

The suspect also stole the victim’s laptop computer and placed it into a backpack that belonged to the victim. After the robbery, the suspect exited the front doors and walked to the east. It is unknown at this time if the suspect left the area in a vehicle.
