In October 1967, following several months as an instructor at Baylor, Ann moved to Altus to administer anesthesia at Jackson County Memorial Hospital which she did for nearly 25 years. She then did the billing and filed insurance claims for a group of local anesthetists before the onset of Alzheimers disease required her to retire.
A deeply religious person, Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Altus. Besides being an extremely talented singer, she was also an accomplished seamstress. Ann’s main hobby was making clothing and costumes for her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Matthew.
She is survived by four daughters, Lizabeth Sprenger and husband Butch of Deephaven, Minn., Diane Scott of Colorado Springs, Colo., Donna Griffin and husband Dale of Shawnee, and Shannon Hess and husband Fred of Gilbert, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and by her husband Will of Altus.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Services have been scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, July 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Altus with the Rev. David Player officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
