The Western Oklahoma State College held off a pesky Seminole team down the stretch to defeat the Trojans 99-92 here on Wednesday night.

The Lady Pioneers lost a heartbreaking 81-70 decision in overtime to the Seminole Lady Belles.

The Pioneers led the way but it was late in the game before the contest was settled.

Western (15-9) got a basket from Jalen Chapman with 47 second left to go up 96-89. That was too much for the Trojans to overcome.

The Pioneers got a 32 point performance from Dii’jon Allen-Jordan. Jadarian Jackson had 21 points and Sterling Thomas 20 points. Chapman finished with 10 points.

The Lady Pioneers battled back from a 15 point halftime deficit.

Cetoria Petties hit a three-point shot to make it 61-61 with 37 seconds left.

Western got the ball back with a chance to win it, however a shot by McKael Williams rimmed off at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

A bucket by Tatyana Bell gave the Lady Pioneers its only lead in overtime at 64-63 with 4:25 left on the clock.

However, Seminole outscored Western 18-6 the rest of the way.

Mahogany Nelms led Western with 20 points. Bell and Gaddis finished with 14 points each.

The Western teams will host Murray on Saturday. The women’s game is slated for 4 p.m. and the men’s contest at 6 p.m.
