A Beginning Portraiture Workshop for Adults workshop is being offered by the Shortgrass Institute and the Southern Prairie Library System.

The workshop will be held for three evenings beginning Dec. 7, 8 and 10 from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Altus Public Library. The cost of the workshop is $30 and all materials will be provided by the Institute. The workshop is for ages 16 and older.

Lynda Taylor is the instructor for the class. The class is for anyone with a desire to learn how to draw portraits. Lynda believes everyone can draw; we just need someone to guide us in finding our way. If you are an experienced artist, Lynda’s class will give you the confidence to get out there and show your work in contests, exhibits such as those here in the library, and arts and craft shows around the state.

This is Lynda Taylor’s second workshop for the Institute and she brings a wealth of talent and education with her. Her first workshop was so well received the Institute knew they had to have her back. Lynda’s education includes attending the Colorado Institute of Art in Visual Communications and Graphic Design, Cameron University and Southwestern State University. She has attended numerous seminars and workshops across the country with such noted artists as Doug Dawson and Ramon Killey. She is a member of the CPSA, Hawaii Watercolor Society. Lynda has also used her artistic talents to create illustrated brochures, designed ad campaigns, stationery and menus for restaurants in Honolulu and provided illustrations and brochures for technical seminars and products. Lynda also does freelance work for Hallmark.

For more information about the workshop or to reserve a place call the library at 580-477-2890. The class is funded in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
