Cody Don Everett, 25, of Altus, was charged in the Dec. 25 kidnapping and first degree rape of a 16-year old girl. The victim sought protection from a neighbor who protected her and called Altus Police Department.
Everett plead not guilty to the preliminary charges. The kidnapping and rape charges were amended at Everett’s hearing on Thursday, Sept. 27 in Jackson County District Court. Everett now stands charged with two felony counts. One is Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and another count of Domestic Assault and Battery.
In Feb. 2008, Everett plead guilty to both Malicious Injury to Property and Domestic Assault and Battery. In May 2011, he also plead guilty to Malicious Injury to Property (under $1,000).
