The Western Trails Historical Society is hosting a Holiday Reception at the Museum of the Western Prairie on Monday, Dec. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Historic photographs from the museum’s archives will be on display. These photos pre-date statehood and are featured in the 2010 calendar titled “When Greer County Was Old” that has been produced as a fund raiser for the museum. This calendar also features a timeline of significant historical events that occurred during the settlement of Old Greer County; a full-color cover reproduction of a Greer County painting by Loweta Chesser; and two poems by Eddie Wilcoxen.
This event is the first opportunity to see the current condition of the museum which has been closed since 2007 for an asbestos abatement procedure. And, it provides an opportunity to help the WTHS raise funds to assist the museum.
Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited.
