Retired Educators to meet

The Jackson County Retired Educators will have a meal at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Fred’s Steakhouse, 2011 N. Main in Altus. Warren Martin will speak at noon about the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum in Hobart.

This professional organization invites retired teachers for pre-K to 12th grade schools or higher education institutions, employees of career and technology centers, administrators, other public education entities, and any school support personnel to attend.

During the business meeting, membership forms will be completed. The county dues are only $10 per year, OREA dues are $36, and members can also donated optional funds of which will go to the WOSC Endowment Fund. At the October meeting, enrollment forms and dues will be collected or potential members can contact Membership Chair Ida Fay Winters at 580-482-8934 to discuss their enrollment options.

The officers this year include President Jan Shera, Vice President Roberta Holt, Secretary Nadine Bailey, and Treasurer Anna Mae Alexander. The program year will include seven monthly meetings during 2012-13.
