Altus - Residents around Jackson County will have ample opportunity to learn about severe weather, according to emergency management professionals.

Thursday, March 7, representatives of the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRAHS) (http://www.cocorahs.org/). and the National Weather Service will be at the City of Altus City Hall, 509 S Main, at 6 p.m. to explain severe weather. Altus Skywarn and area emergency management will also be on hand to discuss disaster planning and how the local program supports the Norman office.

This training is the only opportunity in all of Southwest Oklahoma, including Harmon, Greer, Kiowa, Tillman, and Jackson County. Law enforcement officers who attend will be awarded free training hours. Area residents are encouraged to use http://altusskywarn.eventbrite.com/ to register for the free event.
