Teacher of the Year to be announced at Monday’s School Board meeting

Recognition of the Teacher of the Year finalists, as well as announcement of the 2013 Altus Schools’ Teacher of the Year, will start off Monday’s regular meeting of the Altus School Board. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the board conference room at the administrative center, 219 N. Lee.

Also during the Superintendent’s reports and comments section will be a presentation of a picture to the schools from NBC Bank, a report on water lines at Rivers and Roosevelt elementary schools, as well as recognition of Altus AFB for their assistance with the water line. High school renovations will also be discussed.

Consent agenda items include monthly reports, the CLEP Plan with an update of district demographics and test scores, school improvements at Will Rogers elementary, the Reading Sufficiency Plan, and items to be declared as surplus.

Also on the agenda are retirements, resignations, reassignments, proposed substitutes/time sheet employees/volunteers, and extra duty assignments.

A proposed executive session will be to discuss proposed new hires, and after reconvening to regular session, to approve the employment of said new hires.

The Board will also consider action to accept bids for the Washington elementary school roof, and bids for the Athletic Training facility.
