According to reports from the Jackson County Sheriff’s office, Tuttle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed by a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy who was on routine patrol. The vehicle was also moving sharply right and left about the roadway, and was jerking, moving and darting left and right. The Deputy also said the driver was pounding on the steering wheel and the passenger was sticking his head in and out of the window. As Tuttle passed the Deputy, he clocked at 105 mph. The Deputy did an abrupt U-turn and chased Tuttle into Blair. Tuttle gave no signs of slowing down for about a mile at the time, but about 1/2 mile south of Blair, Tuttle hit his brakes suddenly to avoid rear-ending another vehicle, swerved and steered sharply to the right and went onto the shoulder, went around the other vehicle, and and continued north into Blair. Tuttle pulled into the parking lot of the Blair Superette and stopped. The Deputy took the subjects from the vehicle at gunpoint, placed them on the ground face down, handcuffed both men, and leg iron cuffed the driver.
Tuttle was said to smell strongly of alcohol and was wildly confused and disoriented. He said that he and his buddy were rapping and didn’t see or hear anything, and thought he was driving about 35 mph. The passenger was said to be 16-years-old and was ranting and arguing about rights and authority and police brutality. Both individuals were said to be highly belligerent.
A fixed 3” blade knife was found near the drivers right arm near the drivers right side, accessible and within immediate reach and use.
Charges against Tuttle include eluding a police officer, transporting intoxicating beverages, DUI, unlawfully carrying a weapon and driving under suspension.
