Jay Bradly Ragsdale, 48, of Roosevelt, was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries after an accident Saturday morning on CR 1420 about 2.1 miles east of US Highway 183 in Kiowa County.
According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Ragsdale was west bound on on CR 1420 in a 2005 Ford pickup at about 7:30 a.m., Saturday when he left the road to the left for an unknown reason. He over corrected, and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled 2 1/2 times, ejecting all occupants, coming to rest on it’s top in the south ditch.
Passengers in the vehicle were Jerry Lee Jackson, 62, of Roosevelt, who was pronounced dead at the scene from head, internal and external trunk injuries; and Gates Hunter Jennings, 23, of Roosevelt, who was taken by Kiowa County EMS to Elkview Hospital in Hobart. He was later taken by ambulance to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition.
Seatbelts were equipped, but not in use. Airbags were equipped, but did not deploy.
