Two arrested in Greer County on theft, drug related charges

Steven Carter, 44, of Olustee, and Joe Don Allen, 47, of Hollis, have been arrested after a burglary in Greer County this past Friday.

According to reports, a 9-1-1 call was received by the Greer County Sheriff’s Department from a farmer west of Russell who said he had been burglarized and “almost ran over” by the suspects as they fled the scene of his farming headquarters. Several tools, anhydrous ammonia were taken.

During the investigation evidence lead back to Jackson and Harmon Counties. This lead to the involvement of the District III Task Force, and the Jackson, Greer and Harmon County Sheriff’s Offices.

Numerous stolen items have been recovered from Jackson, Harmon and Comanche Counties. Also seized were several illegal weapons, as well as items related to manufacturing methamphetamines..

Carter is being held in Jackson County awaiting his initial appearance, and Allen is being held in Greer County Jail on burglary in the second degree.
