Two Altus residents were killed in a pickup/semi truck collision on State Highway 6 north of Blair late Tuesday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Leslie Barnett, 76, and Tommy Earl, 77, both of Altus, died in the crash two miles north of Blair in Greer County.

According to reports, Barnett’s pickup truck failed to yield from a stop sign at an intersection and pulled in front of a semi driven by Brian Keith Hatch, 37, of Lahoma. The semi struck the pickup in the driver’s door.

Hatch nor his passenger Donna Descher, 38, of Lahoma, were hurt.

Troopers say Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while Earls died of head, internal and external injuries while being flown by a medical helicopter to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. The patrol says neither Barnett nor Earls were wearing their seat belts.

The accident was investigated by trooper Ryan Hayes of the Greer County detachment of Troop M and was assisted by Lt. Tom Pogue, Lt. George Dickerson, Trooper Donald Byrne, Trooper Craig Dill, Josh Tinsley, Trooper Brian Quinn, Trooper Tyler Shelby, the Greer County Sheriff’s Department, Greer County EMS, Mangum Fire Department, and Blair Police and Fire Departments.
