Candidates for county Board of Education school districts can file Declarations of Candidacy beginning Dec. 3

Candidates for the Board of Education in seven Jackson County school districts file Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3.

Jennifer Wilson, Secretary of the Jackson County Election Board, said the filing period ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Candidates for the Board of Education in the Southwest Technology Center District #27 also file their Declarations during the same period.

The Board of Education positions at stake will be filled at the Annual School Election scheduled Feb. 12, 2013. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Offices for which Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted at the County Election Board office include the following: Altus School District I-18 Office No. 3; Blair School District I-54 Office No. 3; Duke School District I-14 Office No. 3; Eldorado School District I-25 Office No. 3; Navajo School District I1 Office No. 3; Olustee School District I-35 Office No. 3; and Southwest Technology Center #27 Zone 4.
