Race develops for Olustee School Board

Declarations of Candidacy began at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3 for the Board of Education in seven Jackson County school districts. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. today.

Candidates for the Board of Education in the Southwest Technology Center District #27 also file their Declarations during the same period. As of this morning, there were no filings for this position.

The Board of Education positions at stake will be filled at the Annual School Election scheduled Feb. 12, 2013. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

One race has developed, for Olustee School Distric I-35 Office No. 3 between incumbent Tim Drury and Dean A. McConiha. Others filing as of this morning were, Nathan Covington for Altuls School District I-18 Office No. 3; Misti J. Frazer for Blair Schyool District I-54 Office No. 3; Dean Rice, incumbent, for Duke School District I-14 Office No. 3; Jackie L. Kenmore, incumbent, for Eldorado School District I-25 Office No. 3; Gary W. Cobb, and incumbent, Navajo School District I-1 Office No. 3.
