Altus Police responded to an accident with injury at approximately 9:25 p.m. in the 800 block of N. Main on Saturday night. The investigation showed that the driver of a 2004 Toyota 4-door, driven by Lindsey Bennight, 28, was South bound on N. Main when her vehicle veered to the right and left the roadway, striking a portable sign owned by Petal Pushers Flower Shop.

After striking the sign, the vehicle then traveled to the left across five lanes of traffic, striking a 2009 Dodge pick-up parked in front of Val’s Restaurant. The impact then caused that vehicle to strike a 2005 GMC pick-up that was also parked in front of Val’s Restaurant.

Bennight and her four-year-old son were transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by family. She suffered head and trunk injuries. The child suffered a laceration to the chin.

Neither Bennight or her son were wearing seat belts. Bennight has been charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Controlled and Dangerous Substance.
