Olustee SWAT youth passed out water bottles as a way to promote their new 24/7 tobacco free policy at a softball tournament on Aug. 17 and at a baseball tournament on Aug. 24. The water bottles say “Proud to Be 24/7 tobacco free” and are a great way to make sure that visitors, students, parents, and staff are aware that their school is 100% tobacco free. The Olustee school board passed the new policy in April and it went into effect for the 2012-2013 school year. With the passing of Olustee’s policy, all Jackson County schools are now 24/7 tobacco free. Jackson County is the 11th county in the state to have 100% of its public school districts tobacco free. This shows that Jackson County is dedicated to promoting the health of its youth and to setting positive examples where health is concerned.
