Mission on Wheels will be holding a special Christmas celebration, “Pick a Present” Friday, Dec. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. Gifts will be available on a first come, first served basis. Mission (MOW) is seeking inexpensive gifts for boys and girls for this event. They hope to be able to provide presents for 50 children.
MOW needs children and youth winter clothing and coats. The fundraiser bake sale for heaters for the elderly went well, but they are still lacking some funds to purchase as many heaters as they hoped. If you can purchase a heater for about $20, or donate funds to buy one or more, please call Edna Douglas. They are also collecting new and gently used lap throws to distribute to the elderly.
Mission on Wheels reaches out to the community and beyond. Recently MOW donated some prom dresses to the Jones Health Care facility in Lawton. These dresses, according to a Jones spokesperson, will be worn by some of the Jones residents to a special Christmas Gala in Weatherford. A special thanks from the Jones staff to all those who donated prom dresses to Mission on Wheels, making this donation to their residents possible.
MOW depends on its volunteers and donors. Special thanks to Myrtle Eubank who is cleaning and refurbishing dolls for Christmas. She has received doll clothing from Mary Morgan from the Doll Museum to help clothe these little Christmas dolls. Jennifer Arradando volunteered to help Mosell Love decorate the MOW facility.
